Interested in Social Justice Issues?
There are new opportunities for you to get involved with social justice in ways big and small. Terrie Barr is transitioning social justice leadership to Antonio Carrillo and Kathy Ellwood, the new co-chairs of the Social Justice Committee. This will create the opportunity for a new UUCR Board representative to the Community Ministries of Rockville. Go to cmrocks.org to learn more. If you have a passion for health care, the environment, or other social justice issues, contact Antonio or Kathy.
In addition, the Joseph Priestley District (JPD) is forming a new district-level social justice committee that will do for the district what UUs for Social Justice (UUSJ) does in the Washington region:
- provide training of social activists;
- create a venue for social justice chairs to communicate;
- raise the level of social transformation in the JPD through learning, communication, and the exploration of several models of organizing within the UU faith community and in the larger society. This includes self care of social activists and agents of change.
JPD is planning for quarterly meetings and, hopefully, a social justice conference each year. Terrie Barr, UUCR's UUSJ rep, will be one of the reps. Would you like to be the other UUCR rep to the district? If so, please contact Terrie.

This Week at UUCR
| Sunday Service | Sunday, July 5 10:00 a.m.by Seanan Holland
What does patriotism mean to us as UUs? We are inheritors of the legacy of
patriots. What shall we make of their patriotism, and what will our legacy to
posterity be? Music will include American anthems woven into the service.
For summer, children and youth remain in their current grade level.
Nursery, preschool, and K-1st go directly to class in building 3; 2nd-junior high go directly to class in Founders Hall.
After a brief gathering in their classrooms, children and youth will adjourn outside for a Fourth of July
