August 1: "Environmental Justice" by Luci Roberts and Mark Lewandoski

In this lay-led service, Luci Roberts and Mark Lewandoski will reflect on the different ways that environmental justice is promoted in urban, rural, and suburban areas.

Summer RE Program with new curriculum: Heart Talk for Kids. Nursery is open all summer in Building 3. Children go directly to their summer classes; for summer, children remain in their current grade. Preschool-1st grade, Building 3, Room 34-35. Second grade-fifth grade, Founders Hall. Sixth grade and junior high (serve as helpers), Founders Hall.

August 8: "The Hiroshima Children's Drawings"

The story of the Hiroshima Children's Drawings is one of a long, terrible war ending and, in its aftermath, two small groups building a new world through a gesture of reconciliation. A docent from All Souls Unitarian Church in Washington, DC, will present some of the drawings and speak about their legacy. Steve Lapham and Andy Zatman will be our musicians.

August 15: "Time, Space, and The Heart of Existence" by Deborah Kahn, Dir. of Religious Education

"Time and space are interrelated. To overlook either of them is to be partially blind," wrote Abraham Heschel. Deborah Kahn, Director of Religious Education, will explore some of his provocative ideas and consider what Unitarian Universalism has to say about time, space, and the heart of existence. Dick Gilbert will be our pianist and Rachel and Amanda Cox-Rosen will sing.

August 22: "Taking Time to Ponder" by Rev. Lynn Strauss

Rev. Lynn Strauss will offer reflections on the summer task of "pondering." Pianist Dick Gilbert and women's ensemble Sonaria will provide music.

August 29: "Overcoming" by Rev. Lynn Strauss

Rev. Lynn Strauss will consider what we need to overcome the difficulties in our lives—both the individual challenges and the global ones. Cita Furlani will sing.

September 5: "TBA" by Worship Committee

Join members of the Worship Committee for the final service of the summer. Gaynelle Campbell and other wonderful in-house musicians will provide music.

September 12: "Water Communion and Opening Sunday" by Rev. Lynn Strauss

Rev. Lynn Strauss will preach during this annual ritual of coming together for a new church year. The Adult Choir will return to singing after the summer. You are invited to bring a vial of water from your summer for the Water Communion.

This is an inter-generational, family service; there is no separate children's program today.
